Constructing film magazine cover

I  created my magazine cover for my horror film using a software on a MAC computer known as Photoshop. In order to create my film magazine cover i followed the flat plans I designed and other professional products as a guide but from the screenshot below you can see I have made some changes during the process of making my magazine cover.

In this screenshot you can see that I decided on a font for my masthead 'VISUAL' , this font is called 'Franchise' which i downloaded from www.dafont.com

This screenshot shows that I decided on a black background, this is because I felt it was more effective as it made the sell-lines, main sell line and masthead stand out as the vibrant colours contrasted with the dark black. From this screenshot you can also see that I started to develop my cover further by adding a sell line and main sell line. The main sell line is in a different font called 'a cold night for alligators', which I also downloaded from www.dafont.com. I decided to use a different font for the main sell line because it is very important for the magazine cover and therefore I felt that using a different font from the other sell lines would make it stand out more to my audience. I decided to use this font because I think it is very creative and I also used this font for the inter-titles in my horror trailer, thus linking my products together.

In this screenshot you can see I have added a quote underneath my main sell line which reads "the horror film everyone is talking about", I have done this to make my product look more professional. In this screenshot you can see that I decided on a colour palette of green and white, I did this because the professional product which I had researched also used this colour palette and I felt it was very effective in capturing my attention so I thought my magazine cover would do the same for my audience.

In this screenshot you can see I have changed my colour palette from green and white to red and white. I decided to do this because I thought red and white would not only stand out to my audience but also connote horror for example the red connotes blood therefore linking into the horror genre of my product. This screenshot also shows that I have added a barcode, I did this to make my product look more professional. I also added a sell line to the bottom of my magazine cover as I felt this area looked a bit bare.

This screenshot shows that I have added my last sell line and therefore completed the layout of of my cover before adding my main image.
