Constructing film poster

I created my film poster using a software on a MAC computer called Photoshop. In order to create my film poster I followed the flat plans which I designed and other professional products as a guide. From the screenshots below you can see that I have made some changes from my flat plans during the process of making my film poster.

In this screenshot you can see that I have decided on a font for my main title for my film poster. The font I have decided to use is called 'Oh No' which I downloaded from www.dafont.com. I decided to use this font because I have used it for the main sell line on my magazine cover thus linking my products together. I also think this font type fits in well with the genre of my product which is horror.

This screenshot shows that I have developed my poster further by adding more text which acts almost as a slogan to my poster which reads 'Never trust a neighbour', this reveals more about the film, it is also quite catchy and therefore memorable. I have put this piece of text in the colour red to make it stand out and contrast from the black colour of the main title.

This screenshot shows that I have added the small print which is located on the bottom of all film posters which includes information on the film for example the director, the actors, the production company etc. I have included this in my product to make it look as professional as possible.

This screenshot shows that I have added another piece of text at the bottom of my page which reads "coming soon" I have done this to make my product look professional. I have made this piece of text red to make my main title stand out as this is the only piece of text which is black.

This screenshot shows that I have added the final pieces of text on my poster, which is the actors names, before placing the main image. I have done this as I felt my poster looked a bit too bare. I have added one actors name which reads "Geoffery Wray" in red whilst the other two names are in black, firstly because I think it looks creative but also because he is the main character within the film trailer.

This screenshot shows my completed film poster with the main image placed. However, this is not the image I wanted to create for my product but due to photography difficulties this is the image I am using for my rough cut and will then reshoot my main image in time for my final product deadline.

I felt that when i completed my film poster it looked too plain and therefore would not get a very good reaction from my audience. To solve this problem I looked and researched different images on www.cgtextures.com and came across a 'blood splatter'. i decided to add this to my poster to give it more of an effect and make my horror genre more obvious. This screenshot shows my final rough cut of my film poster:
