These are the film posters I have researched and selected:
From the images above you can see that they all have the same conventions, dark lighting and a colour palette of red and black, this shows that this is an effective way of presenting the horror genre. In my rough cut of my film poster I have included a colour palette of red and black also however my main image is on a white background therefore making it very light, perhaps this is why my audience felt it was hard to identify the genre of my poster. The film posters I have researched all have a similar main image, this is because they all have similar story lines to my trailer and therefore I think that using a main image similar to these ones will convey my story line well. The main images of these film posters consist of only one character, this is usually the antagonist as this is the one character that the audience fears the most, I think I will reinterpret this idea into my film poster. However, in these film posters the antagonist is shot holding a weapon due to restrictions from the exam board I able unable to this although I have purchased a fake knife for filming therefore I may use this in my main image to make my antagonist look more threatening.
Although I think the film posters are above are effective for those of a horror genre, I think there are a lot more film posters similar to them. I will still recreate a film poster similar to this but I also plan to create another one similar to the image shown below, I will do this because I feel this film poster is unique and I may be able to recreate it easily using my models and a variety of props. I will then gather audience feedback on both of my film posters and see which they think is most effective and will then decide from the information I collect which poster to use for my final product.
